Second Grade News for the Week of January 28

Religion:  The Sermon on the Mount   and Jesus Teaches About Prayer

Memory:  Tuesday:  "Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well."  Matthew 6:33

               Wednesday:  "Our Father Who art in heaven.  What does this mean?  God would by these words tenderly invite us to believe that He is our true Father, and that we are His ture children. . . ."

               Thursday:  ". . . so that we may with all boldness and confidence ask Him as  dear children ask their dear father."

               Friday:  "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened unto you."  Matthew 7:7

Language Arts:  Story-How to Hide an Octopus and Other Sea Creatures

                           Skills-/oo/ as in foot, conjunctions and compound sentences, prefixes, fact and opinion

                          Story quiz on FRIDAY

                          WORD WALL WORDS:  use, hurt, end, drink, one      Word Wall/Language Tests on Friday

Math:  Assessment on Friday

Social Studies Unit Project instructions:  Tell what country your ancestors came from--then imagine going on a trip to that country.  Fill out a passport (teacher provides) with student's complete name, date and place of birth, picture and signature.  Passports should be folded like a book.  The word Passport should be on the front cover.  Inside, students should include a picture (real or self-portrait) and write on the inside the names of the country/countries (of ancestory) they plan to visit.  Next to the name of each country draw a picture of something found in that country.  PROJECT IS DUE FEBRUARY 7TH.

Snappy Tomato Pizza Challenge for January is due on the 31st.

New Challenge goes home on February 1st.
