News and Notes from Grade Two
April 29, 2011

Religion: Bible Truths- Peter and the Crippled Man, Tabitha
 
(Please note: Chapel will be on Thursday, May 5th)
Memory: For 5/3/11 Study:

For 5/4/11 Study:

Language Arts:
Story: Jingle Dancer
Vocabulary Words: calves, ached, pounding, pale, glimpse, shuffled, slipped, strolled
Skills: -ness, -ly, -y, -less, -ful suffixes, review of adjectives, plurals, contractions, and correct marks of punctuation 
Story Quiz on Thursday.
Word Wall Words: Review Week—List below 
Word Wall and Language Tests on Friday.
 
Math: Before, after, and between, ordering numbers, looking for patterns, and assessment. We’ll begin Topic 18—addition and subtraction of three digit numbers.
Science: Chapter 12 The test for this chapter will probably be on May 10th
 
Social Studies: We will work on Unit 6. The unit project is to create a sales pitch for an imaginary item they want to sell. After coming up with an item for sale, they are to write an advertisement that will grab buyers’ attention. They need to be persuasive and convincing. You may want to look at magazines and newspaper ads for ideas. This will be due on May 24th
 
Also, please remember that the Fine Arts Fair is on May 12th. Attendance is mandatory. Thanks.

Thank you for the prompt return of the Grade Reviews. It is very much appreciated!! 
 
May 6th:  Cystic Fibrosis Day-- No lunch will be served that day. If your child does not care to purchase the pizza, please send a sack lunch.
The class will need drinks/fruit/cookies on the 6th  with our pizza. If you would be willing to provide one of the items, please let me know. Thanks!  
 
May 12th: Fine Arts Fair at 7:00 p.m. 
 
May 19th: Field trip to Muscatatuck Wildlife Refuge (re-scheduled from April 29th
 
May 20th: Track and Field Day (Rain date-May 27th)
 
May 26th: First and Second Grades go to Children’s Museum 
 
June 1st: Last day of school (Awards Day)
