Week of October 4th, 2009
Religion: The Story of Rahab (Joshua 2) and The Fall of Jericho (Joshua 6)
Memory: Ten Commandments
Monday: The Fifth Commandment: You shall not murder.
Tuesday: The Sixth Commandment: You shall not commit adultery.
Wednesday: The Seventh Commandment: You shall not steal.
Thursday: The Eighth Commandment: You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.
Math: We will finish Topic 4 about subtraction. There will be a test over Topic 4 on Monday. There will be a test over Topics 1-4 on Tuesday. If needed, we will review some of the material covered in the previous topics. If review is not needed, we will move on to Topic 5 Relationships between 5 and 10. If a Rocket Math paper is not in your child’s folder, we did not get to it that day.

Reading: We are finishing Unit 2 this week. Students will read about polar bears and acrostic poems. The vocabulary words used in our stories this week are camouflage, den, nests, and marsh. Our sight words this week are down, if, its, red, help, six, and then. We will also be talking about action verbs. The sound spellings introduced this week are /x/, /e/, /ed/, /d/, /t/, and /e/ spelled ea.

Wednesday: Decodables #34 and #35
Thursday: Decodable #36 and 37
Spelling: There will be a test on Friday.

Special Announcements
*Mrs. Owens from the public library will visit with our students on Wednesday.
*Chili Supper Friday, October 8th.
*Help session is still being held on Thursday from 3:30 -4:00. Please let me know if your child will be staying.
*If students are not taking their normal mode of transportation home, they need a note. This includes if they are a car rider and someone different is picking them up. Also, students attending chimes at St. Peters need notes.
