First Grade News: October 22-26, 2007
Religion- Martin Luther- Reformation                         
Memory- Bible Verses from our Reformation activities
                 Students need to say the book of the Bible, chapter, and verse.
            Monday: Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Proverbs 3:5
            Tuesday: God is our refuge and strength. Psalm 46:1
            Wednesday: Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.
                                  Psalm  119:105
            Thursday:  Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord. Psalm 95:1
  Math- Students will be identifying even and odd; adding 2 to an even and odd number, showing time on digital and face clocks, and problem solving.
            Monday: Lesson 56B; Facts 56B
            Tuesday: Lesson 52B; Fact Homework 57 
            Wednesday: Lesson 58B; Facts 58B
            Thursday: Lesson 59B; Facts 59B
Reading-We are reading two stories this week about responsibility. Students will be working on sounds from last week, _ng, _nk, qu_, and the schwa sound like in brother. If you notice any problems with these sounds at home let me know. Students will take a skills test over concepts learned this week on Friday. The high frequency words they need to know are: an, they, but, do, she

*Our comprehension strategies this week are: Visualizing, Clarifying, Summarizing.
Vocabulary: environment, industry, litter
Spelling: The test will be on Friday.

*Thank you to those who helped on the field trip. The students set a wonderful example for our school and had fun!
*Next Wed. Oct. 31 is our Reformation Party. In the morning our class will do a costume parade through the school. I ask that each student dress like what they want to be when they grow-up. At 2:30 we will have our party.
