News and Notes from Grade Two
January 22, 2010 
Theme: Standing On the Almighty Rock
 
Religion:   Bible Truths-The Sermon on the Mount 
                          Jesus Teaches About Prayer      
 
Memory: For 1/26/10 Study-
. . . not with gold or silver, but with His holy, precious blood and with His innocent suffering and death, 
 
For 1/27/10 Study-
That I may be His own and live under Him in His kingdom and serve Him in everlasting righteousness, innocence, and blessedness, 
 
For 1/28/10 Study- 
Just as He is risen from the dead, lives and reigns to all eternity. This is most certainly true. (Meaning of the 2nd Article)

Language Arts: Story: How the Guinea Fowl Got Her Spots 
(We will read How to Hide and Octopus. . . ., but no quiz will be given.)  
Vocabulary Words: delicate, temper, reeds, glossy, bank, admired 
Skills: Prefixes-dis, un, mis, mid,--classifying and categorizing—synonym and antonym review

Social Studies: We continue to work on Unit Four. Please remember the Social Studies Project is due February 5th
 
 
F.Y.I:
Grade Reviews: Sent home today, January 22nd.    Return these on Monday, January 25th.  Thanks! Please remember, eight A.R. points are needed per trimester.
 
The Student Council continues to sell suckers for $.50 each.
 
Grade Two leads chapel on February. As part of the chapel I have asked the students to bring a momento/postcard/souvenir of a favorite place they have visited. Anyone who wishes to do this may—if your child prefers not to do this that is fine also. Please let your child know what they may bring if you are agreeable to send in an item. The item needs to be sent by February 5th. Please remember we would love to have you come to our chapel service. It begins at 8:30 a.m.
 
Don’t forget the Book-It Challenge for January. It is due this next Friday.
 
LCS Auction—February 27h—Funds go toward upgrading the plumbing and electrical in the original part of the building. To date I have gotten “Aussie and Ted’s Great Adventure” and “Tom and Jerry-Whiskers Away!” DVD’s. Your help and donation is very much appreciated. We need to have the items for our basket ready by February 12th
