First Grade News: April 20-24
Religion- Jesus Prays in Gethsemane- Mark 14; Jesus Dies on the Cross- All 4 Gospels
Memory- Hymn of the Month- We are the Church
Monday: At the Pentecost some people Received the Holy Spirit
And told the Good News thru the world to All who would hear it.
Wednesday:I count if I am ninety Or nine or just a baby;
There’s one thing I am sure about and I don’t mean maybe;
*Memory verses are going to become longer from now on to prepare students for 2nd grade.
Math- Students will learn to identify hundreds, tens, and ones; identify rectangular prisms, and review problem solving. Students will have a fact test and written test on Wednesday.
Monday: Lesson 131B; Facts 131B
Tuesday: Fact Homework 130
Thursday: Lesson 132B; Facts 132B
Reading- Students will continue unit 8, Away We Grow. Students will be reviewing the long and short u sounds this week. Students will have a test on Friday over the story, vocabulary, and sounds for this week. Students should be able to read 65 words or more per a minute. Reading books several times, especially the decodables, is a way to improve student fluency.

First Grade News
*Friday, May 8 is our school Fine Arts Fair. The program will begin at 7 all students are required to attend.
*First and Second grade will be going on a field trip to the Indianapolis Children Museum on Tuesday, May 26. I will be sending more details in May.
*Our chapel offering this year is going to the American Cancer Society. The money our class collects from the chapel offering will go to the relay for life event in May. Our class goal is $500. We have reached $370. Students will receive a class pizza party if we meet our goal. Thank you for your continued support!
*April 30 will be the last day students can check out public library books at school.
*May 14 will be the last day students can take AR tests.
*I will be gone this Friday. My daughters and I are in a family wedding in Evansville. If you need anything during the day please contact the office.
*Due to ISTEP+ testing in the computer lab, students will not be allowed to take AR tests from April 27-May 6. I still encourage students to read AR books. We will continue on May 7. Thank you for your patience.
