First Grade News: Nov. 10-14
Religion- The Story of Jonah; The Story of Daniel
Memory- Song
Monday: So, build your house on the Lord Jesus Christ and the blessings will
come down.
Wednesday: Oh, the blessings came down as your prayers go up so build your house on the Lord.
Math- Students will be dividing squares in half, subtracting numbers by 2’s and learning how to tally and count by 5’s. Students will have a Fact Test on Wednesday and a Written Test on Thursday.
Monday: Lesson 67B; Facts 67B
Tuesday: Lesson 68B; Fact Homework 68
Wednesday: Fact Homework 70
Reading-We are beginning a unit on “Neighborhood at Work” Students will be learning about different types of jobs. The sounds students will be learning this week include: long I spelled i_e and I; /s/ spelled ce and ci; /j/ spelled ge and gi. The high frequency words for the week are: ride, walk, we, well, make, you, go, and like (these words will be on the high frequency test next week) A home activity will be sent home on Monday that goes along with our story. This does not need to be returned.

Social Studies- Rights and Responsibilities
*Students will bring home a blank paper on Tuesday. On this paper they are
to draw a responsibility they have at home and write a sentence about the
picture on the paper. This is due on Wednesday.
Science- Plants and Animals
*Students will have a take home paper that is due on Thursday.

First Grade News
* Zodie Otting will be the student on the all about me board next week. Please send in any pictures your child would like to share with the class. The pictures will be returned.
*Accelerated Reader will start Monday. If you have any questions on the forms sent home please let me know.
*Public Library check-out is on Thursday.
*Wednesday is Wacky Day and Thursday is Red, White, and Blue Day.
*Grandparent’s Day is on Friday. Grandparents will have access to the book fair on Friday and parents may order online or send money with a grandparent. Students will have a chance to make a wish list on Wednesday. Students can go home with their grandparent after lunch.
*Friday is a half day. Students who do not go home with their grandparent will be dismissed at 12:45.
*Report Cards will be sent home on Friday.
*During the week of Nov. 17-21, I would like to invite any parents to our class to talk to the students about their job. The presentation can be informal. If you would like to attend one day that week please let me know by Wednesday, Nov. 12.
*We are out of quart size plastic bags. If you would like to donate a box please send it in with your student. Thank you!
*Our class will be putting together a theme basket for our school auction in February. If you have any ideas please let me know.
