First Grade News
Week of November 28th-December 2
Religion: Students will discuss Advent.
Memory: Christmas program packets will be sent home on Monday. The memory assignments are noted in the program. There will be no memory due Tuesday, November 30th. Please take this time to look over the memory assignments and contact me if you have any questions. The memory for each church will not be listed in the newsletter.
Reading: We are continuing our unit “Our Neighborhood at Work.” Students will be reading Quinto’s Neighborhood and Firefighters. Vocabulary words for this week are nurse, equipment, tanks, and rescue. High frequency words for this week are ride, walk, we, well, go, like, make, you. Students will be learning about the following sounds: long i spelled i consonant e, /s/ spelled ce and ci consonant, and /j/ spelled ge and gi.
Monday: Decodable #62
Tuesday: Decodable #63
Wednesday: Decodable #64
Thursday: Book Choice
*Students will be able to take AR tests on Monday and Wednesday this week.
Math: We will begin Topic 16 about addition facts to 20.
Monday: Math Facts 41
Tuesday: Lesson 16-1 and math facts 42
Wednesday: Lesson 16-2 and math facts 43
Thursday: Lesson 16-3 and math facts 44
Social Studies: We will continue Unit 6 The Marketplace. Students will read about a crayon factory and watch a short video about how crayons are made.
