First Grade News
Week of September 12-16
Religion: Moses and Pharaoh (Exodus 4-11) and The Passover (Exodus 12)
Memory: Hymn of the Month: “Come Follow Me,” the Savior Spake
Due Wednesday: “Come follow Me,” the Savior spake,
“All in My way abiding;
Deny yourselves, the world forsake
Due Friday: Obey My call and guiding.
O bear the cross, whate’er betide
Take My example for your guide.
Math: We will continue working on adding. There will be a test Friday, September 16th.
Monday: worksheet 3-3 and 3-4
Tuesday: worksheet 3-5
Wednesday: worksheet 3-6
Thursday: worksheet 3-7
Reading: We will be reading a story about schools long ago. We will also be working on the following sounds: /p/, /l/, /h/ and short o. Students will be learning about singular and plural nouns. We will review the following high frequency words: had, him, said, and has. There will be a test on Tuesday.
Monday: Decodable #12
Tuesday: Decodable #13
Wednesday: Decodable #14
Thursday: Decodable #15
Friday: Decodable #16 in class Decodables will be sent home with students who need extra practice.
Interview sheets are due on Friday.
Social Studies: We will begin Unit 4 Our Changing World. Students will read about how people lived long ago.

*Windy City Players will perform for the students on Wednesday.
*School pictures will be taken in the morning on Thursday, September 15th.

*A big thanks for your participation in the Trinity Fish Fry.
*Pastor Bernard from Haiti will be speaking at Chapel on Monday and visiting with the students afterwards. As always, you are welcome to attend Chapel. It begins at 8:30. He will also be leading worship at Trinity Vallonia on Sunday, September 18th.
*The Race to Remember Grace will be held Sunday, September 18th at Wegan. Registration forms are available in the office.
