Memory Week 1 (Aug. 15-19)
Due:
Wednesday 8/17: “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
Joshua 1:9
Thursday 8/18:
Luther’s Morning Prayer: I thank You, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, Your Dear Son, that You have kept me this night from all harm and danger; and I pray that You would keep me this day also from sin and every evil, that all my doings and life may please You. For into Your hands I commend myself, my body and soul, and all things. Let your holy angel be with me, that the evil foe may have no power over me. Amen.
Friday, 8/19: 1st verse of “Be Strong and Courageous”
August—Be Strong and Courageous
1 Be strong and courageous,
There is no need to fear;
For God is always with you,
His presence always near.
As you explore this vast world
Wherever you may go,
The Lord God travels with you,
His love all you need know.
2 Exploring God’s Creation,
The wonders of His hand,
His majesty and power
Shine forth in ev’ry land.
Yet sin this world did enter
With pain and death and strife,
But God, etern’lly faithful,
Sent His Son bearing Life.
3 Christ walked this world among us,
And traveled down the road
That led to Calv’ry’s mountain,
Where for all His blood flowed.
But there are those around you
Who do not know His grace,
So go ye to the whole world
That all may see His face.
4 In Christ you can do all things,
By your side He will stay;
His Spirit there to guide you
As you move through each day.
If sitting in a classroom
Or trav’ling far and wide,
Do all your works in His name;
Through you His light will shine.
