First Grade Newsletter
Week of January 24th-28th
Religion: Students will continue to discuss baptism. If your child has not brought in something from his/her baptism, please send it in this week.
Memory: We will continue the Apostles’ Creed.
Monday: He ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty,
Tuesday: from there He will come to judge the living and the dead.
Wednesday: I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Christian Church, the communion of saints,
Thursday: the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
Reading: We will begin Unit 6: North, South, East, and West. This is a unit about maps and traveling. This week we will read The Way to Captain Yankee’s, Me on the Map, and “Classroom Globe.” Vocabulary words used this week are map, state, whirl, and globe. High frequency words this week are no, their and way. Students will be working on long o spelled oa_ and ow_ and long u spelled _ew and _ue.

Friday: Test
Spelling: We will continue our spelling list from last week. The words are reprinted below.

Math: We will finish the first part of our unit on geometry. There will be a test on Wednesday.
Monday: Lesson 8-4 and Rocket Math
Tuesday: Lesson 8-5 and Rocket Math

Thursday: Lesson 8-6 and Rocket Math
Science: We will finish our unit about weather. The test will be on Tuesday.
*100th Day Project*
Our 100th day will be on Friday, January 28th, providing we do not have any more snow days. Posters are due this day. Don’t forget your 100 pieces of food for our snack mix!
