Language Arts:

           Story: For the Love of Our Earth   
                Vocabulary Words: dawn, engines, glows, witness, litter  
              Story Quiz on Friday  
              Word Wall Words: again, most, joke, black, boat      
                   Word wall and language tests will be on Friday.
Math:  We will addthree numbers, make ten to add nine, make ten to add eight, and do problem solving.  The Topic Two quiz will be next week.  
Social Studies: Don’t forget the unit one project is due on September 15th.   (See below to review the directions.)

Directions for Social Studies Unit One Project are: 
(Choose one.)
 
 A. “In the News” Materials needed-newspapers, news magazines, poster board, scissors, tape or glue
Instructions: Create a chart on the poster board with the following headings: The President, The Congress, the Supreme Court. Look through newspapers and news magazines for photos and reports of our government at work. Clip the photos and reports and tape or glue each under the appropriate column heading.
OR
B       Presidential Trading Cards” Materials needed: Research books/biographies of the U.S. Presidents, internet information, drawing paper, crayons or markers 
Instructions:   Research two U.S. Presidents. Create a trading card for each by drawing a picture of the President on the front and listing some facts about him on the back. The facts might include his name, birth and death dates, home state, and   years in office. The “cards” should be no larger than 8½” by 11” and no smaller than 4” by 6”
