First Grade News
Week of April 26-30th
Religion: Paul Travels as a Missionary and Paul and His Nephew (Acts 23: 12-24)
Memory:
Monday: The Lord your God will be with you whereever you go. Joshua 1:9
Tuesday: I have had God's help to this very day. Acts 26:22
Wednesday: If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. 2 Corinthians 5:17
Thursday: Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Acts 2:38
Reading: We will begin Unit 9 Home Sweet Home. Students will also start a new reading book. We will read two stories this week: Homes and Homes Around the World. The test will be over Homes. The vocabulary words this week are packed, clay, roog, and sturdy. Students will be reviewing long e, short e, and consonant blends (pl, cl, gr, dr, fl, pr, st, tr). We will also be working on present and past tense verbs. Due to the field trip, the test will be on Thursday.
Monday: Read Homes in reading book.
Tuesday: Decodable 107
Wednesday: Reread Homes.
Thursday: Decodable 108
Spelling: The test will be on Thursday this week.
Words: stamp, stick, steal, stay, true, train, track, try, stable, truly
Math: Students will continue working on subtraction facts that we have not yet covered. We will also review counting ones, tens, and hundreds and geometric solids. Students will also be using pictures to represent the number 500.
Monday: Lesson 131 Homework
Tuesday: Fact practice and worksheet
Wednesday: Lesson 132 Homework
Thursday: Lesson 133 Homework
Science: There will be a science test over Weather on Wednesday. Science readers were sent home last week.
Special Announcements
*Just a reminder...the field trip to Starve Hollow is on Friday. Children need to bring a sack lunch and drink. They need to dress for the weather.
*First Grade presents Chapel on Monday, April 26th at 8:30. Hope to see you there!
*We've had lots of sleepy children lately. As the days get longer, please make sure your child still gets enough sleep so he/she can do his/her best.
