Unit 2--Israel in the Wilderness. Lessons will include The Ten Commandments and The Ark and the Tabernacle.
Reading
We will be reading “Crinkleroot's Guide to Animal Habitats” and work on classifying and clarifying information as we read.
Language—Sentences
This week we will learn about the 4 types of sentences, as well as compound sentences, subjects, and predicates.

This week we will learn about different ecosystems, including deserts, tundras, and grasslands. Students will begin working on an in-class group project to learn more about one of these ecosystems.

Homework: Write incorrect pretest words 3x, worksheet, textbook page 44 (Practice and Write) and 45. (due Thursday).
Enrichment (Note: this is only for students who got 100% on pretest and is done in place of the week's unit): Choose your own 5 words with the long 'e' sound to learn--write their definitions and use in a sentence, Challenge WS (Notice the activity on the bottom!)
Notes:
--We will wear our third grade class shirts on Friday (10/16). Please bring in your $7 as soon as possible.
--Market Day fundraiser pick-up is Wednesday after school.
--Chili Supper is this Friday.
--Parent/Teacher Conferences are next Monday and Tuesday. A slip will come home on Wednesday letting you know the time of your conference.
--Help Session next week will be on Thursday due to conferences.
--We will be starting JumpStart classes (to help students who might need extra preparation for taking ISTEP+ in the spring) next Thursday (and then they will continue every Tuesday and Thursday). I will send more information home with your student later this week if I feel they would benefit from this extra practice.
