Dear Parents:
Magazines, music, movies, TV shows and advertisements are bombarding us with an avalanche of sexual messages—and our children are struggling to know the truth. Brownstown Christian Church and the Pregnancy Care Centers of South Central Indiana are teaming with local Jackson County churches to offer 5th thru 8th grade students and their parents/adult mentors an opportunity to equip themselves with tools to guard their minds, hearts and bodies based on God’s unchanging truths. My Best for You is an informative and fun, multi-media workshop designed for adults and students to explore together the Biblical view of human sexuality and behavior.
All sessions will be held at Brownstown Christian Church,
702 West Spring Street as follows;
Parent Orientation: Wednesday, February 1st, 7:00 to 8:00pm.
Meeting with parents/adult mentors only, encouragement will be provided regarding the significant impact you have on the behavior and attitude of your children regarding sexuality. This session will equip and encourage you to be a loving authority in addition to preparing you for the “teachable moments” which present themselves at every stage of a child’s development. The goals and topics presented during the Workshop will be discussed along with a time for questions.
Workshop: Sunday, February 12th from 1:00 to 5:00pm.
Utilizing both large group presentations and small group discussions, parents and children together will learn: Our worth comes from God and the Bible is our source of truth; The functions of the male and female reproductive organs; God created sex as a gift of intimacy and reproduction for married couples and it is always in our best interest to follow His design; Worldly influences can affect our sexual choices so God provides support systems to help us remain pure. Jesus is our Savior, Guide and Strength and He enables us to experience God’s best.
We can greatly affect the lives of our children by reaching them with the transforming truths of the Gospel in an area where the world has done most of the talking.
