First Grade News
Religion: Pentecost (Acts 2) and Jesus Changes Paul (Acts 9:1)
Memory: Please continue practicing the parts for chapel. We will also have a memory assignment this week. We will be working on the hymn of the month “Christ the Lord is Risen Today” verses one and two
Monday: Christ the Lord is risen today!
Saints on earth and angels say;
Tuesday: Raise your joys and triumphs high,
Sing ye heavens and earth, reply
Wednesday: Love’s redeeming work is done,
Fought the fight, the battle won
Thursday: Lo! Our Sun’s eclipse is o’er;
Lo! He sets in blood no more.
Reading: We will finish our unit about plants this week. Our story is Plants that Eat Animals. The vocabulary words are trapping, wetlands, attracts, and insects. We will be reviewing long vowel sounds. Students will also learn about contractions (I’m = I am). The test will be on Thursday.
Monday: Read pgs 256-265 in reading book.
Tuesday: Read pgs 266-275 in reading book.
Wednesday: Read all of the story.
Thursday: Test in class Decodable 106
Friday: We will begin a benchmark test.
Spelling: The pretest will be on Monday. The test will be on Friday.
We will work on words from our word wall. There will be more words this week. Many of these words the children should be familiar with.
Words: what, with, when, went, walk, want, were, who, they, that, there, this, then, them, these
Social Studies: Great work on the test!
Science: We will be learning about weather this week.

*Pizza money for CF Day (April 23rd) was due on April 16th. If you did not place an order for pizza, your child needs to bring a sack lunch to school on that day. There will be no cafeteria service. Wacky day is also on April 23rd.
*First grade will be presenting Chapel on April 26th. (8:30 – 9:00) All are invited to attend.
