Unit Three Project
Choose one of the following two options for this project. The project is due December 18.
Option One: Write a describing paragraph about your favorite farm product. Include facts and details about the product.
·        What is your favorite farm product? Look through Unit 3 for product ideas. Look through grocery ads for favorite foods.
·        Choose a favorite farm product to write about. Describe the way it looks, tastes, smells, and feels. Research other interesting facts about the product such as where is it grown and how does it get from the farm to market. What is the product’s purpose?
·        Use the research to write a descriptive paragraph. (We have been working on writing paragraphs that include a main idea sentence, at least three detail sentences, and one or two supporting sentences for the detail sentences. The students also know that a closing sentence is a part of a paragraph.)
·        Revise and proofread the paragraph.
·        Make any changes needed and then copy the paragraph neatly to be turned in on or before December 18th.
Option Two: Create a flowchart about using resources to produce food.
·        Think about the steps needed to get a product from the farm to the table. Plan a flowchart that could be used to show how resources are used to do these things.
·        Choose a product for your flowchart. Research how it is grown, harvested, transported, packaged, and sold.
·        Decide on what steps you want to show. Write out each step. Include details that the pictures for each step should show.
·        Draw a picture to show each step. Write a caption.
·        Turn your flowchart in by December 18 and be ready to share what you learned.
