First Grade News: Feb. 2-6
Religion- Jesus Calls Matthew-Luke 5:27-32; Jesus Sends Helpers-Luke 10:1-24
Memory- Hymn of the Month- Built on the Rock
            Monday: Built on the Rock the church shall stand,Even when steeples are falling;
            Tuesday: Crumbled have spires in every land,Bells still are chiming and calling;
            Wednesday: Calling the young and old to rest,But above all the souls distressed,
            Thursday: Longing for rest everlasting.
 Math- Students will be learning to draw and measure a line segment to the nearest inch, counting nickels and pennies, and ordering events. Students will have a fact test on Thursday and a written test on Friday.  
            Monday: Lesson 97B
            Tuesday: Lesson 98B; Facts 98B
            Wednesday: Lesson 99B; Fact Homework
            Thursday: Fat Homework 100
Reading-The theme of the unit is “North, South, East, West.” Students will be learning the /oo/ sound spelled _ew and u_e and /oo/ sound like in foot. Students will have a test on Friday over the concepts learned this week. The high frequency words for the test are: very, good, now, here, go
            Monday: Read an AR book
            Tuesday: 1st Reader
            Wednesday: Decodable #86
            Thursday: Decodable #87
English: Commas, Writing Descriptive Paragraphs     
Spelling: Students will take a pretest on Monday and then the actual test will be on Friday.  
This week words are: chew, new, tune, flute, super, grew, rude, look, book, good
Handwriting- Jj                    
Social Studies- Directions-North, South, East, West
Science-Food Chains- Rain Forest and Marsh

First Grade News
*Denise Brock will be the student on the all about me board next week. Please send in pictures by Friday.  
*Thank you to everyone who brought in items for the 100th Day! Your donations are very appreciated.
*Due to last weeks snow storm and no school, you will notice we are following the same homework schedule as last week.
*Friday is an early dismissal day. Students will be dismissed at 12:45.
*The Valentines Day party will be next Friday, Feb. 13 at 2:30. Here is a list of who signed up to help with the party: snacks-Tiffany East; Drinks- Missy Nierman, Plates- Dusti Brewster, Napkins- Jamie Hehman, Party Favors- Teresa Brock, Help at Party- Melanie Pottschmidt and Dusti Brewster.
