First Grade News: Jan. 12-16
Religion- Jesus in the Temple- Luke 2:41-52; Jesus is Baptized- Matthew 3:13-17
*Each student will be presenting to the class information about their
Baptism. Students whose students numbers are 1-9 will present on
Thursday and student numbers 10-17 will present on Friday. Students
can bring in materials from their Baptism such as pictures, baptism
gowns, candles, gifts, ect. Students will also share with the class any
information that they know about their baptism such as where, who
was there, sponsors, ect.

Monday: I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth.
Tuesday: And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord who was conceived by
the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary

Thursday: He descended into hell. The third day He rode again from the
dead.
Math- Students will be adding 10 to a number; ordering numbers to 100, counting by 100’s and problem solving this week.

Thursday: Lesson 93B; Facts 93B
Reading-We will begin a reading unit on directions this week. The theme of the unit is “North, South, East, West.” Students will be learning the long o sound spelled oa and ow and the long u sound spelled _ew and _ue. Students will have a test on Thursday over the concepts learned this week. The high frequency words for the test are: no, their away, too, came

Spelling: Students will take a pretest on Monday and then the actual test will be on Friday.

Science- Review- Life Cycles of Plants and Animals.
*Students will have a take home activity on Wednesday this is due on Friday.
This is a required assignment and will affect your child’s science grade.

*Kelian East will be the student on the all about me board next week. Please send in pictures by Friday.
*We will celebrate Trey Hackman’s Baptismal Birthday on Friday.
*Students will be sharing the day of their baptism on Thursday and Friday.
*Trinity Lutheran High School Students will be in our class on Tuesday to do activities.
*Our 100th day is on Tuesday, Jan. 20. Students need to bring in 5 canned goods for our food drive, dress like they are 100 years old, and bring in 100 of something to add to our trail mix such as raisins, pretzels, m & m’s, ect.
