In a devotion that I read, the author used Proverbs 10:4, “Lazy hands make a man poor, but diligent hands bring wealth” as the basis to tell me that I am to keep busy and use my time to be productive. This verse led me to think about those of you that volunteer at LCS - we value what you do for us. You use your hands, feet, time, and finances to help us achieve the best education for the children that attend our school and you are most appreciated! Helping others where there is a need is doing what this verse tells us. Jesus used His hands to show the Father’s love to the people of His day. His hands were also pierced for us and that made our hands clean and free to serve others. His saving hands and our busy hands - a partnership of love!

All the doors at Lutheran Central School have been re-keyed. We had no written record of who had keys and knew that there were a number unaccounted for. It has been years since the building was redone and we were able to use some Federal Drug and Safety money to help pay for it, so the decision was made to do the whole building. We now keep written records of who has keys and we know that will help with building security.

February 15 is the final day of the second trimester. Report cards will go home on February 22. It is hard to believe we are almost two-thirds of the way through the school year.

Lutheran Central is the annual host for the Jackson County Spelling Bee. Representatives from most of the Lutheran and public schools in the county will come to LCS in February or early March for this annual event. Due to changes with the Derby Spelling Bee we will no longer be associated with them and our winner will not advance to another level. At the national level, The Scripps National Spelling Bee, started charging all schools involved $100.00 to be associated with them and allow winners to advance to the next level of competition. So each school that participates in our county bee has to pay the $100.00 so if their student wins our spelling bee that student can advance with a chance to make the Scripps National Spelling Bee finals. LCS is not paying the fee and it is doubtful that any others will either. We will still host the spelling bee and Ms. Thompson has been communicating these issues with all the schools involved.

Trinity Lutheran Church has moved their confirmation and confirmation questioning dates.  The questioning at Trinity will be on Wednesday, February 27 with confirmation on Sunday, March 2.  All three churches had scheduled confirmation on the same Sunday and Trinity's move was done so that families and friends could attend the questionings and confirmations at the other churches as well.

The annual Morley candy bar sale is underway. This is one of the Washington D.C. trip fundraisers that some of our fifth through seventh graders participate in. If you can help them out it would be greatly appreciated!

From the faculty and staff, I thank you for your loving, caring support for Lutheran Central School and I wish God’s continued blessings on all of you!

LEA Board Changes

Please join us in expressing our sincere gratitude to our three outgoing LEA Board members - Dave Hackman, Pharis Philpot, and Tom Brown. These men have generously given of their time and talents to help Lutheran Central grow and succeed.
We also welcome our three new Board members – Matt Hackman (St. Peter’s), Tony Peters (Wegan), and Clint Wolka (Trinity). May we keep these men, along with the continuing members, James Lucas, Tom Hackman, Mike Shoemaker, and Darin Rorig, in our prayers and ask God to guide their decisions for the benefit of all those connected to Lutheran Central.
