First Grade News
Week of October 3-7
Religion: Students will continue the unit about leaders.
Memory: Students will begin memorizing The Ten Commandments.
Due Wednesday: The First Commandment: You shall have no other gods.
Due Friday: The Second Commandment: You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God.
Reading: We will continue Unit 3 about animal homes. There will be a test on Wednesday. High frequency words that will appear on the test are big, got, ask, to, of.Students will also be tested on classifying and categorizing.
We will review short u, z, x, and short e this week. Students will begin working on identifying the main idea and details in a story.
Monday: Decodable 28
Tuesday: Decodables 29 and 30
Wednesday: Decodable 31
Thursday: Decodable 32
Friday: Decodable 33 in class.
Math: We did not get to the cumulative test over Topics 1-4 on Friday as planned. Instead, students will be taking this test on Monday. Since we may need to review, I am not sure what the homework will be. If there is a math sheet in your child’s folder, please complete it and return it. I will mark which side to do.
Science: We will be reading about the places animals live.
