Memory: For Tuesday, September 27 Study:

              For Thursday, September 29 Study:

          Obey My call and guiding.
      O bear the cross, whate’er betide,
      Take My example for your guide.” (Sept. hymn of the month)
 
Language Arts: We are finished with Unit One. Unit One test will cover the stories, vocabulary, and phonics skills studied. The test will be TUESDAY. 
Story-We’ll begin the second unit, Let’s Explore, on Wednesday. We’ll work on a read-aloud called A Log’s Life. We will also begin the first story, “Ants! They are hard workers!”.
There will not be a story quiz. 
Skills worked on will be: /e/, writing-using the traits of writing, working with nouns and verbs.
Spelling-real, green, sleep, team, we, belong, feel, knee, east, clear
Challenge Words: peach, cheese, please, between, eagle  
Test Friday
 
Math: We’ll work on place value to 100 next week. Please keep working on the math facts to 18.   
 
Science:    We are working hard to cover the first unit.  Time slips away very quickly it seems!!  Next Tuesday we hope to do a “guided inquiry” regarding how to solve a problem. For this activity please send in a clean tin can or small carton. The students will be asked to design a holder that could be used to organize items. Please label what you send for your child with first and last name. Thanks! 
Social Studies- We continue to work on the Governing the People unit. Please remember that the Social Studies home unit project is due September 30. The options are: 
·         Make a poster describing the three branches of the U.S. Government and what they do. Be ready to explain your poster.
·         Write a report about what makes one is eligible to vote in our country. Be ready to tell the class about when they will get to vote. 
·         Choose a law from a street sign you have seen. Using Activity Pattern A3 (provided by teacher), draw a picture of the law being followed. Then cut the lines and put the pieces in an envelope. Be ready to tell about the law that is being followed in your puzzle. 
LOOKING AHEAD: 
September 26-Wear pink to remember the day Grace went to heaven to be with Jesus.
September 28-Walk to Public Library-weather permitting.  
September 30-Social Studies project due

The newsletter has been printed early as I will not be at school September 21-23. 
Due to my recent illness, I will be starting a regimen of chemotherapy. Your prayers and support are sincerely appreciated.
