First Grade News
March 29-April 2
Religion: Students will learn about the events of Holy Week.
Memory: First Grade will present Chapel on Monday, April 26th, at 8:30. Chapel parts will be sent home this week. Please have your child practice reading his/her part. It does not need to be memorized.
Reading: Students will be reading The Garden and “Saguaro.” Vocabulary words for this week are flower, shouted, quite, and tight. Students will be reviewing the long i and short i sounds this week. Students will also be working on identifying possessive pronouns.
Monday: Read pgs 172-181 in reading book.
Tuesday: Read pgs 182-191 in reading book.
Wednesday: Reread The Garden and “Saguaro” in reading book and decodable.
Thursday: Test
Spelling: There will be a pretest on Monday and a test on Thursday.
Spelling Words: fine, time, dry, shy, fly, mice, by, quite, tired, crying
Math: Students will learn about dollars and will learn the “oddball” math facts (ones that don’t fit with a pattern).
Monday: Lesson 113 Homework
Tuesday: Lesson 114 Homework
Wednesday: Lesson 115 Homework
Thursday: Test
Science: We will do the science test together in class with our books on Wednesday.
Social Studies: Great work on the past/present project! We will talk about communities and transportation in the past.
Announcements
*Grade Reviews will be sent home on Thursday.
*Chapel will be on Thursday this week.
*Help session will be held on Monday.
*Our Easter party will be on Monday, April 5th.
*Please remember to write your child’s name in books that they bring from home. Children are keeping a lot of books in their desks and bookbags. It is sometimes difficult to know whose they are.
* As our service project this year, we will be making door decorations for the residents at Lutheran Community Home. Please color the eggs and return them to school by Wednesday, March 31st. We will also take time to color some at school. Please remind your child to do their best coloring. Please do not write your child’s name on the paper. Thank you! (The eggs were sent home Friday, March 19.)
