First Grade News: October 1-5, 2007

Memory- The Ten Commandments and Bible Verses
Monday: 9th Commandment- Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor’s

Tuesday: 10th Commandment- Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor’s wife,
Nor his manservant, nor his maidservant
Wednesday: Nor his cattle, nor anything that is thy neighbor’s.

Math- Students will be learning adding 0 facts, subtracting 1 facts, counting by 10’s and problem solving. Students will take a math test on Friday and a fact test on Thursday.

Reading-We will be finishing our unit on “Where Animals Live”. Students will writing word poems this week. We are working on Brainstorming, Revising, and Publishing. We will be working on the x and short e (spelled e and _ea_) sounds. We will also be working on the _ed ending. We read the decodables at school and then students read them at home. If you see that your child is having difficulty at home with the books please let me know. Students will take a skills test over concepts learned this week on Friday. The high frequency words they need to know are: down, if, its, red, help
