First Grade News: September 10-14, 2007
Religion- Rescue at the Red Sea; The Ten Commandments
Memory- Let us ever walk with Jesus (song of the month) 2nd Verse
* I apologize for last week’s memory. The last part I put a part from verse three instead of verse two. We will do that part over. *There will not be memory Thursday night.
Monday: Though today we sow no laughter, we shall reap celestial joy
Tuesday: All discomforts that annoy Shall give way to mirth here after.
Wednesday: Jesus here I share Your woe help me there Your joy to know
Math- Students will be using pattern blocks, learning doubles addition facts, and identifying heavier and lighter with a balance. Students will take a math test on Friday.

Reading-We will continue studying the Back to School unit. Students will be reading and learning about schools long ago. If your child has a chance to talk to his or her grandparent this week have them ask them about their schools. Also share with them about your schools. Students will get a chance to share with the class this week. We are working on autobiographies and will finish them this week. We will be working on the short o, l, b, and p sounds. We read the decodables at school and then students read them at home. If you see that your child is having difficulty at home with the books please let me know.

*Students will be dismissed at 12:45 on Friday, Sept. 14.
* Windy City Players will be here for a performance on Wednesday at 10:10.
*Also grade reviews will be sent home on Friday. This will tell you what grades your child has up to this point.
*Our class, along with 2nd grade, will be going to Cornucopia farms on Friday, October 19. Chaperones are welcome but will follow the bus. I will be sending home permission slips early October.
