First Grade News: August 20-24, 2007
Religion-The Flood; God’s Promise to Noah
Memory- The Christian Flag Pledge
Tuesday: I pledge allegiance to the cross of our Lord, Jesus Christ
Wednesday: and to the faith for which it stands, one Savior, Eternal
Thursday: with mercy and grace for all
Math- Students will be identifying triangles, sides and angles, sorting by one thing, making shapes on geoboards, acting and drawing stories, counting pennies, and problem solving. Students will take a math test on Friday.
Monday: Lesson 13B
Tuesday: Lesson 14B
Wednesday: Lesson 15B
Thursday: Lesson 16B
Reading-We will be reviewing the letters in the alphabet. Students will also be working on the letter sounds n-z. Students will be finishing alphabet books this week. The decodable books coming home this week are to build the student’s fluency. Please return the book the next day.

Handwriting- Reviewing Proper Writing
Spelling- practicing high frequency words/ word wall
Social Studies- Learning about school
Science- Living and Nonliving things
*Each month 1st grade will collect a book order. The form that comes home will have a return to school date. When you return the order either send cash or a check made payable to the school. Our class earns points from each book order that can be used for classroom books and supplies. Enjoy the book orders!
*Last week each student was tested on words that were taught in kindergarten. I am sending home on Monday the list of words. The words circled are the words your child needs to work on. On Friday I will retest again on the circled words.
*Remember to turn in “About Me” forms and class party forms.
*Remember to send in Bullying Program forms.
