First Grade News
Weeks of May 23-27th and May 31-June 1
Our last newsletter for the year!
Religion: Students will finish the Unit Praise. We will have Chapel on Monday, May 23rd and Tuesday, June 1st.
Memory: We will be reviewing memory from earlier in the year.
Due Tuesday: The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven; give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass again us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.
Due Friday: Luther’s Morning Prayer
I thank You, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, Your dear Son, that You have kept me this night from all harm and danger; and I pray that You would keep me this day also from sin and every evil, that all my doings and life may please You. For into Your hands I commend myself, my body and soul, and all things. Let Your holy angel be with me, that the evil foe may have no power over me. Amen.

Reading: We will read another story from Unit 10 I am Brave. This week’s story is Ira Sleeps Over. Vocabulary words used in this story are problem, match, and changed my mind. We will be reviewing adjectives.
Monday: Read Ira Sleeps Over.
Tuesday: Students may read a book of their choice.
Wednesday: Decodable
Thursday: Read Ira Sleeps Over.
Friday: Test
Spelling: The test will be Friday.

*School will be in session May 31 and June 1 for make up days.
*There will be help session in Tuesday, May 24th. This will be the last help session.
*All classroom and school library books need to be returned by Tuesday, May 24th.
*Wednesday, May 25th will be the last day for students to take AR tests.
*We will be taking our field trip to The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis on Thursday. Students should wear their purple class shirts. Students also need to bring a sack lunch and drink labeled with their names. Please no pop.
*I am so proud of the first grade for their excellent behavior at track and field day. They all demonstrated good sportsmanship and followed the classroom expectations.
