First Grade News
Weeks of December 13-17 and December 20 and 21
Religion: Shepherds See the Savior (Luke 2: 8-20) and The Wait is Over for Simeon and Anna (Luke 2: 22-40)
*Please bring in a Christmas book to share. Mrs. Klosterman will talk more about this in class.
Memory: Please see the Christmas Program.
Reading: Students will begin Unit 5 “What’s the Weather?” this week. They will be working on long e spelled e, e_e, ee, and ea. High Frequency words used this week are or and two. Vocabulary words found in our stories this week are flashes, shelter, funnel, and sprinkle. Students will also be working on writing lists and capitalization.
Monday: Decodable 68
Tuesday: Book Choice
Wednesday: Decodable 69
Thursday: Decodable 70
Friday: Test
There will be no AR tests December 20th or 21st.
Spelling: Words contain the long e sound spelled ee or e_e. The test will be Friday.

Math: We will begin Topic 17 Subtraction. Students will be using addition facts they know to help them subtract.

Thursday: Lesson 17-4 and Rocket Math

*It’s time to start thinking about the science fair! For first grade, all of our work will be done in class. We will do one class project. More details about when the science fair will take place will follow.
*Our books are in! If you ordered a copy of the class book we created, they are in. We will be holding a school wide “book reading” at school on the 21st. I would like to keep the books until then. They will come home on the 21st. If your book was ordered as a gift and you need it earlier, please let me know.
*Help session will be held on Monday, December 13th. No help session the 20th or 21st.
*Please wear your purple class shirt on Friday, December 17th. Wear your favorite Christmas shirt on Monday, December 20th.
*Please send in gifts for the Christmas parts the week of December 13th.
