Spelling
Focus: /j/ spelled with ‘ge’ and ‘j’, /s/ spelled with ‘s’ and ‘c’
*Students will bring home their personal list of 10 words on Monday. It will include some of these words (from Monday’s pretest) and high-frequency words they have been misspelling. The majority of the activities in their unit work will use these 10 words, but they will complete a WS or book page to practice using all the unit words.
Challenge Words:
*bandage    *journey    *vegetables   *concert
--Two of these challenge words will be randomly chosen for extra credit on Friday's test.
Homework: Word Boats, “Look-Cover-Write,” WS, Write each of your words in a sentence
*Students have learned the procedure for using their “Look-Cover-Write” folders in class. This is used with the 3 columns of lines numbered 1-10. Students copy one of their list words onto the first line, then say the word and spell it aloud. They then close the first flap, and try to write the word. After checking their second try (and correcting it if necessary), they write it one more time in the third column.

News and Notes
·  Look for the first book order forms of the year to come home this week, along with on-line ordering information.
·   School pictures are this Friday—make sure your child has their envelope with them. They will not be allowed to call home for it. If you wish, they can bring it in earlier in the week and I will hold onto it for them.
·   Please remember to empty out the green “Take Home” folders every night!
