Teacher: Mrs. Klosterman Email: Rachel.Klosterman@lsportal.net School Phone: 358-2512 Home Phone: 524-8249 Class Work This Weeks Happenings in Kindergarten Monday-Memorial Day- NO School Tuesday- Donuts for Dads- 8:15 to 10 Wednesday- Chapel 8:30; Awards Program 12:00; Last Day of School News Kindergarten graduation will be apart of the awards program on June 2 at 12:00 in the gym. After the school awards (hopefully between 1:30 and 2:00), I will have a short program in the room where students will receive my awards and gifts. The short program will last about 15 minutes and then students can go home with parents afterwards. Donuts for Dads will be on Tuesday, June 1. The event will begin at 8:15 and end at 10. Students will need to stay at school for the rest of the day. Dads may come in with their child. If dad cannot come that day please have someone else special come to be with your child that morning. Also let me know if someone will not be coming that day. If I do not hear anything I will assume someone will be here. Thank you! You do not have to return the report card or envelope. I just want to thank each of you for helping make this first year of full day kindergarten at Lutheran Central a success! I also want to thank you for your patience, support, and loving kindness during the different transitions we had this year. Your child and you have been a blessing to me and this school. End of the Year activities! * Word Wall Words-Review- Please work with your child on the words! *Religion– The story Lydia and Tabitha- Acts 9 and 16 *Math- Students will continue to work on recognizing and counting coins; and adding/subtracting. *Science- Review *Social Studies- Review This Weeks Happenings in Kindergarten Monday-Chapel at 8:30 Wednesday- Field Trip to Kids Commons- 10:30 to 2:30- Wear Class Shirts Friday- DQ Trip (Please return permission slip); Wear 5K shirts (if your child ordered one) 8th Grade Graduation Snacks and Drinks Mrs. McElfresh will have snacks and drinks next week. News We will be leaving on Wednesday to the Kids Commons at 10:30 and should return by 2:30. All students should bring their lunch and a drink with their name on both. I will have a cooler if needed for those lunches not in a lunch box. Parent chaperones need to bring a lunch also and are welcome to ride the bus. I also ask that students wear their orange class t-shirt. Students who purchased a Join the Race and Remember Grace T-shirt are asked to wear their shirt to school this Friday, May 28. Kindergarten graduation will be apart of the awards program on June 2 at 12:00 in the gym. After the school awards (hopefully between 1:30 and 2:00) , I will have a short program in the room where students will receive my awards and gifts. The short program will last about 15 minutes and then students can go home with parents. Donuts for Dads will be on Tuesday, June 1. The event will begin at 8:15 and end at 10. Students will need to stay at school for the rest of the day. If dad cannot come that day please have someone else special come to be with your child that morning. Also let me know if someone will not be coming that day. If I do not hear anything I will assume someone will be here. Thank you! Students will be reading stories and doing activities about wind. Students will be reviewing the long o, long u, and long e sounds vocabulary review, and comprehension. * Word Wall Words- then, when *Religion–Pentecost; Philip and the Ethiopian- Acts 8:26-40 Please send in 3 toy cars, trucks, boats, airplanes, or other type of transportation for our lesson on Tuesday. Also help your child find what his or her name means and bring it in on Friday. *Math- Students will continue working recognizing money and counting on using coins. Please work on these concepts with your child. Some students are still having problems recognizing a penny, nickel, dime, and/or quarter. Some are also having trouble telling the amount when given a number of pennies with a number of nickels or dimes. *Science- Plant Growth This Weeks Happenings in Kindergarten Monday- Music with Miss Kaisler. Benjamin will be 3 months old on May 16. He is now 9 lbs. 10 oz. 23 in. long, smiling, and doing wonderful! God has truly blessed us! Hannah Stahl will have snacks next week and be the star of the week. News Our Reformation party will be on October 30. Students will be asked to dress as a Bible story character or nursery rhyme character. We will be doing a costume parade with 1st and 2nd grade. Snacks: Angie Hallow; Drinks: Ashley Wolka; Plates and Napkins; Brandi Brelage; Games: Rhonda Otting; Help at Party: Angie Hallow. If you cannot bring your assigned snacks please let me know. We painted pumpkins on Wednesday please send in $2 for the pumpkin if you have not. If you would like tickets to the Harvest Dance and Thanksgiving Meal on November 6 please contact the office. Please continue to keep the Scarlett family in your prayers. Grandparent’s Day is November 13 from 8:30 to after lunch. We will go to chapel, do activities, and eat lunch. There will be a sign-up form coming soon. Picture retakes are on November 5. If your child needs picture retakes please send the first pictures on that day. We are need of more clorox wipes or baby wipes. Students wipe their rest mats down each day as well as wiping off the tables. Thank you for your support! Please work on these at home. A mini book “Seal” will be sent home on Monday night please read with your child and keep the book. “A Man” will be sent home on Wednesday night to read. * Word Wall Words (star words) this week- red, yellow, blue, orange, green *Religion– The Story of Samuel *Memory– Hymn of the Month (v. 1 of Rock of Ages, Cleft for Me)- Let the water and the blood, From Thy riven side which flowed. *Math- We will be working on telling time to the hour and ordinal positions to the 4th. We are going to be reading Chicka Chicka Boom Boom and other books to review this week. We will have many activities with those books. We are also taking the 2nd benchmark test this week to see where each student is. I will share the 1st and 2nd test with you at our conference the 19th and 20th. We are also working on color words and opposites this week. Students will need to know there address by Friday. We will be doing address activities this week and you may see some home activities as well (I will mark them if there are.) Also, on Monday students will get a letter activity to do all week please return the form Friday * Word Wall Words (star words) this week- We are reviewing this week. *Religion– The Story of Ruth *Memory– Hymn of the Month- Rock of Ages, cleft for me, let me hide myself in Thee *Math- Students will be identifying and counting pennies, matching numbers to a set, and naming shapes this week.
