First Grade News: May 12-16, 2008
Religion- God Blesses Us- Psalm 24 & 94; God is Great- Psalm 77 & 46
Memory- Hymn of the Month
Tuesday: You came to earth, O Christ, as Lord, but
Power You laid aside.
Thursday: You lived Your years in servant hood; In lowliness You died.
Math- We are going to continue 2nd grade lessons this week. Most of the concepts are a review from the year.
Monday: Lesson 11B; Facts 11B
Tuesday: Lesson 12B; Facts 12B
Wednesday: Lesson 13B; Facts 13B
Thursday: Lesson 14B; Facts 14B
Reading-We are finishing our unit on “Away We Grow” We are reviewing all of the long and short vowels this week. Students will have a test over the story, contractions, and the sounds we have learned/reviewed on Thursday.
Monday: Read the Leveled Reader
Tuesday: Read P. 254-275
Wednesday: Read Decodable #106
Vocabulary Words: trapping, wetlands, attracts, insects
Writing: Summaries
Spelling: tie, grow, low, cried, pie, throw, lie, know
*Spelling Test on Thursday.

Science- Matter- Solids, Liquids, and Gases
*Great Job 1st grade at the Fine Arts Fair!!
*Our school donated over $800 for cystic fibrosis!!! Thank you for your donations.
End of the Year Events:
May 14- Kindergarten will be visiting our class in the afternoon May 16- Track and Field Day, May 21- Field Trip,
May 23- Last Day of School; 8:30- Chapel; 9:30-Awards Day;
7:00- Graduation
*May 15, Thursday, will be the last day for AR tests.
* Students can still return public library books to our school but are not allowed to check out any public library books at school.
*Thursday will be the last day for students to check out school library books but they need to be returned by the last day of school.
*All permission slips for the zoo need to be turned in.
