News and Notes from Grade Two

Fruits of the Spirit
Religion: Bible Truths-Lydia Learns About Jesus,The Jailer at Philippi, and Timothy Hears and Shares God’s Word
(Please send a Bible to school-any translation-for this week.)
Memory: For 5/24/11 Study: Meaning of the Third Article
What does this mean? I believe that I cannot by my own reason or strength believe in Jesus Christ, my Lord, or come to Him;
For 5/25/11 Study:
But the Holy Spirit has called me by the Gospel, enlightened me with His gifts, sanctifies and kept me in the true faith.
For 5/26/11 Study:
In the same way He calls, gathers, enlightens, and sanctifies the whole Christian church on earth, and keeps it with Jesus Christ in the one true faith.
For 5/27/11 Study:
In this Christian church He daily and richly forgives all my sins and the sins of all believers. On the Last Day He will raise me and all the dead and give eternal life to me and all believers in Christ. This is most certainly true.
Language Arts:
We will do another Book Club as we did last week.
Math: We will finish Topic 19 with assessment on Tuesday. We will work on Topic 20 this week and next week. It is an introduction to division. We will continue to work on math facts until the end of school. Please review them over the summer as well. Thank you.
Science: Chapter 13 will be finished this week. No test will be given over this chapter.
Social Studies: The unit project, to create a sales pitch for an item they’d like to sell, is due Tuesday, May 24th. The Social Studies unit six test will be on Wednesday, May 25th.
F.Y.I.
Please remember our class trip to The Children’s Museum on Thursday. Please send a sack lunch and drink with your child’s name. Please no pop, lunch boxes, or small coolers. A cooler will be provided to keep the drinks cold. Make sure your child wears his/her class shirt as this is our “ID” for the museum. The permission slip that was sent home as well as the money needed ($9.25) needs to be at school on Tuesday, May 24th. Thank you!!
Mrs. Owens from Brownstown Public Library told us about the Summer Reading Club. It will run from May 31st to July 23. Sign up at the library! I hope your child will participate. It is a fun way to keep up the reading skills!!

This will be the final “News and Notes” for the school year. I’ve enjoyed working with your children. They are, indeed, a blessing from God. Thank you for your patience, help, and understanding this school year. I appreciate all of your prayers and kindnesses.
