Class Work
*Reading– Students will be taking a benchmark assessment this week to monitor their progress. If I have any concerns about your child’s progress I will let you know on the report card that will be coming home February 25. Students will be learning the /w/ and /k/ sounds. We are working hard on reading please work with your child at home on blending sounds together and reading sentences. The more practice students get the easier it will be. Students will have a decodable for homework on Friday.

*Religion– Zacchaeus- Luke 19
*Memory– Bible Verse: Since God so loved us, we love one another. 1 John 4:11
*Math- Students will be working on measuring, comparing, and ordering objects by length. Math homework will be on Wednesday.
*Science- The 5 Senses, Floating and Sinking, Dental Health
*Social Studies- Presidents Day; Workers- Students will receive a handwriting paper on Monday, they will need to interview Mom, Dad, or both about their job. They can draw a picture of that person and then write a sentence about what he or she does (with help). For example, My mom is a _______________. This is an assignment that each student needs to complete. This assignment is due Friday.

JUST A REMINDER THAT WE DO HAVE SCHOOL ON MONDAY, February 21!!!
Our Valentine’s Day party is on Monday, February 14 beginning at 2:15. Those signed up to bring items include: Snacks- Jamie Walker; Drinks- Kelly Cunningham; Plates and Napkins- Joanah Wischmeier; Party Favors- Sarah Brown; Games/Activities: Tomie Campbell; Help at Party- Joanah Wischmeier and Stephanie Teipen. If it does not work for you to bring the above item please let me know. Thank you! Also we are having a Valentine’s exchange. There are 16 students in our class (13 boys and 3 girls).
Beginning this week, students will be tested on different concepts for the report card. Students will be tested on letter recognition and sounds along with word wall words, reading 3 letter words, parts of a story, number and coin recognition, tying shoes, ect.
Our school will be having spirit days this week to get the boys ready for the basketball Lutheran tourney. Those spirit days are listed above.
Our class is required to do a service project this year. If you have any ideas please let me know. In the past Kindergarten has picked up trash, had a toy drive, and sang at the nursing home.
As of now, our last day of school will be June 1. We will be going to school on all of the snow make-up days listed on the calendar.
