News and Notes from Grade Two

Theme: Fruits of the Spirit-Joy
Religion/Memory:
          Stories-The Sermon on the Mount 
                      Jesus Teaches About Prayer 
Please note**Students will need a Bible at school next week. 
 
For 2/1/11 Study: “Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” Matthew 6:33 
 
For 2/2/11 Study: “Our Father Who art in heaven. What does this mean? God would by these words tenderly invite us to believe that He is our true Father, and that we are His true children. . .”  
 
For 2/3/11 Study: “. . . so that we may with all boldness and confidence ask Him as dear children ask their dear father.”   (The Introduction/meaning to The Lord’s Prayer) 
 
For 2/4/11 Study: “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened unto you.”
                              Matthew 7:7 
 
Language Arts: 
Story: How to Hide an Octopus and Other Sea Creatures
Vocabulary: delay, glides, designed, proceeds, fade, creatures 
    Skills: /oo/as in foot, conjunctions and compound sentences, prefixes un and dis, fact and opinion

Math: We will begin Topic 11-Geometry
 
Science: We’ll continue “Properties of Matter.” 
 
Social Studies: Unit Four Social Studies test on Wednesday. Unit project due Friday, 2/4/11. 
 
F.Y.I.:
Pizza Hut Book Challenge is due January 31st. A new challenge will be sent home on February 1st. Thank you to all who continue to participate.
 
Second Grade chapel is on February 7th. Please come if you are available. (8:30a.m.) If there is a two hour delay we will still have chapel. 
 
There seems to be several different illnesses going around. Please remember that your child should be free of fever for 24 hours before returning to school. Thank you for your help in this.
