Class Work
*Reading– Students will be reading stories and poems about shadows. We will be learning the short u, x, and z sounds this week. Students need to make a list of 5 words that have the short u word in them and bring to school by Tuesday. Students will be reading Bud and Max on Friday.

*Religion– Jesus is the Baptist
*Memory– Hymn of the Month: Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, the King of creation!

*Math-Students will be working ABC patterns; some, some, more stories, graphing, and counting nickels. Please send in a bag of 10 nickels by Wednesday. Please send them in by Wednesday. Tuesday night students will have a take-home activity to do and return on Wednesday.
*Science- Winter; Charts and Observation
*Social Studies- Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. History

News
Monday, January 25 is our 100th day. Students are asked to bring 100 of something in a plastic bag with his or her name on it.
Please send in donated items for the auction basket by Friday, January 29. Angie Hallow has offered to put a cookbook together for the basket. Please send in your child’s favorite recipe. Other suggested items are cooking utensils, measuring cups, a roaster pan or large baking dish to put the items in, money to go towards items or a Jay-C gift card, ect. If you have any ideas please let me know.
Looking ahead…. Our class field trip will be on Wednesday, May 26 to the Kids Commons in Columbus, chaperones are welcome. Also, our class will be conducting the chapel service on Thursday, May 6 and we will be inviting all of our Mother’s for a Mother’s Day Tea that day.
Our chapel offering this year was going to go towards the American Cancer Society. After the devastating earthquake in Haiti our school, we are going to send either some or all of our years chapel offering to Hearts for Haiti. If you have an opinion one way or another please let me know.
