First Grade News: April 13-17
Religion- Jesus Washes the Disciples’ Feet- John 13; Jesus’ Last Supper- Mark 14
Memory- Hymn of the Month- We are the Church
Monday: We’re many kinds of people, With many kinds of faces,
All colors and all ages, too, From all times and places.
Wednesday:And when the people gather There’s singing and there’s praying,
There’s laughing and there’s crying sometimes, All of it saying:
*Memory verses are going to become longer from now on to prepare students for 2nd grade.
Math- Students will learn to identify quarters, subtract 2-digit numbers, read a thermometer, and subtract half of a double.

Wednesday: Lesson 128B; Facts 128B
Thursday: Lesson 129B; Facts 129B
Reading- Students will continue unit 8, Away We Grow. Students will be reviewing the long and short o sounds this week. Students will have a test on Friday over the story, vocabulary, and sounds for this week. Students should be able to read 65 words or more per a minute. Reading books several times, especially the decodables, is a way to improve student fluency.

First Grade News
*On Thursday we will celebrate, Eli and Halle’s Baptismal Birthday.
*Students will be dismissed at 12:45 this Friday.
*Friday, May 8 is our school Fine Arts Fair. The program will begin at 7 all students are required to attend.
*I will be sending a list every two weeks of the books your child has checked out from our school library. Students are only allowed to check 2 books out. If you have any questions about the books please let me know.
*First and Second grade will be going on a field trip to the Indianapolis Children Museum on Tuesday, May 26. I will be sending more details in May.
*Our chapel offering this year is going to the American Cancer Society. The money our class collects from the chapel offering will go to the relay for life event in May. Our class goal is $500. We have reached $370. Students will receive a class pizza party if we meet our goal. Thank you for your continued support!
