First Grade News: May 5-9, 2008
Religion- Paul Travels as a Missionary; Paul and his Nephew
Memory- Hymn of the Month
Tuesday: Lord, help us walk Your servant way Wherever
love may lead
Thursday: And, bending low, forgetting self, each serve the other’s need.
Math- We are going to start 2nd grade lessons this week. Most of the concepts are a review from the year. Students will have a fact test and a written test on Friday.
Monday: Lesson 6B; Facts 6B
Tuesday: Lesson 7B; Facts 7B
Wednesday: Lesson 8B; Facts 8B
Thursday: Lesson 9B; Facts 9B
Reading-We are continuing our unit on “Away We Grow” We are reviewing the long and short u sound this week. Students will have a test over the story, antonyms, and the sounds we have learned/reviewed this week.
Monday: Read the Leveled Reader
Tuesday: Read P. 238-245
Thursday: Read Decodable #105
Vocabulary Words: petals, bright
Writing: Summaries
Spelling: human, unit, fuel, music, mute, cube, huge, fumes
*Spelling Test on Friday.

Handwriting- Slant
Social Studies- Cultures
Science- Matter- Solids, Liquids, and Gases
* Remember to return the permission slips to the Zoo.
*Friday is our school Fine Arts Fair. The Book Fair opens at 5:00. The performance will begin at 7:00. All students should be in there assigned seats by 6:50.
*Students who donated $5 for Cystic Fibrosis may wear flip-flops, hats, and sunglasses. If your child did not donate $5 they will eat the school lunch.
End of the Year Events:
May 9- Fine Arts Fair, May 16- Track and Field Day, May 21- Field Trip,
May 23- Last Day of School; 8:30- Chapel; 9:30-Awards Day;
7:00- Graduation
*May 15 will be the last day for AR tests, school and public library check-outs.
