Language Arts: Story- Grandpa’s Corner Store
Vocabulary Words: arrangement, tingle, huddled, sharp, construction, aisles
Skills: predicting, compare/contrast, contractions, parts of a book, open and closed syllables.
Story Quiz on Thursday.
Benchmark Four test will be given on Friday.
Spelling Words: open, humid, until, person, cancel, fuel, begin, wagon, number, minus, Christmas
Challenge Words: continue, dial, united, radio, moment
Spelling test on Friday. The students will not have a language test this week.
Math: Topic 8 test will be on Wednesday, December 14. There will be a cumulative test over topics one through eight on Thursday. Topic Nine is on subtracting two digit numbers with regrouping. We won’t begin that until January. We will continue to work on solving word problems and two digit addition with regrouping. PLEASE KEEP WORKING ON MATH FACTS!
Social Studies: We are going to attempt to finish Unit Three this week. The test is scheduled for Friday,December 16th.
The unit project will not be due until January 5, 2012. The unit project is to create a flow chart about using resources to produce food. A unit project guidelines page is being sent home with each student on Monday, December 12th. If you have any questions, please contact me.
F.Y.I.:
We are scheduled to visit the Brownstown Library for Read to Self on Wednesday, December 14. If the temperature is below 25 degrees/and or raining or snowing we will not go. Please make sure your child dresses warmly enough—gloves/mittens are encouraged!
Pizza Hut Reading Challenge: Please return the number of December minutes read on December 20th. Thank you.
Just a reminder—Mrs. Owens from the Brownstown Library told the students about the library’s Second Grade Reading Club that begins in January. She sent home a red half sheet giving all the details. There is limited registration so be sure to sign up soon if you’re interested.
Monday, December 19th is “Wear Your Fun Christmas Clothing” day. If you are interested, your child is welcome to wear “Christmasy” clothing. This is sponsored by the Student Council.
Remember, chapel will be on Tuesday, December 20th.
Grade Two’s Christmas party will be on December 20th after the all school assembly. Girls are to bring a $5.00 girl grab bag gift and boys are to bring a $5.00 boy’s gift for the grab bag. Please send the gift on or after December 15th and before the 20th. Thank you!!
