First Grade News
Week of September 26-30
Religion: The Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:1-17)
The Tent Church (Exodus 35:4-40:38)
Memory: The Lord’s Prayer Continued
Due Wednesday: And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.
Due Friday: All of the Lord’s prayer
Reading: We will continue Unit 3 about animal homes. There will be a test on Tuesday. High frequency words that will appear on the test are can’t, call, look, was, and what. Students will also be tested on cause and effect.
We will review f, g, j, and short u this week. High frequency words that will be reviewed this week are big, got, and to. Students will also be working on classifying and categorizing.
Monday: Decodables 23 and 24
Tuesday: Decodable 25
Wednesday: Decodable 26
Thursday: Decodable 27
Friday: Decodable 28 in class.
Math: We will finish Topic 4 which introduces subtraction. There will be a test on Friday. Students will also be taking a test on Friday that covers Topics 1-4. This is a test to let me know how much information the students are retaining.
Monday: Lessons 4-5 and 4-5
Tuesday: Lesson 4-6
Wednesday: Lesson 4-7
Thursday: Lesson 4-8
Science: We will be reading about animal homes.
Social Studies: Mrs. Billie Wintin, a former kindergarten teacher for Seymour Schools, will be visiting to talk about school long ago.

*Class t-shirts are in! The cost is $7. Shirts will be sent home when they are paid for.
*Weather permitting, we will be walking to the library on Wednesday. Children should dress accordingly.
*The student council is selling suckers. The cost is 50 cents. Students may purchase suckers Friday during lunch. Suckers may not be eaten at school.
