First Grade News: May 4-8

Math- Our class will begin the first 15 lessons of 2nd grade math this week. We will also be reviewing greater than and less than, counting money, and geometric solids.

Reading- Students will begin unit 9, Home Sweet Home. Students will have a test on Friday over the story, vocabulary, and sounds for this week. Students should be able to read 75 words or more per a minute. Reading books several times, especially the decodables, is a way to improve student fluency.

First Grade News
*This Friday, May 8 is our school Fine Arts Fair. The program will begin at 7 and all students are required to attend.
*First and Second grade will be going on a field trip to the Indianapolis Children Museum on Tuesday, May 26. Permission slips are due on May 14.
*This Friday, May 8 is CF day. Students can buy rose pins for $1 until Friday. Students will also get to wear sunglasses, hats, and flip-flops. If you would like to bring snacks or drinks that day for the class please let me know.
*May 14 will be the last day students can take AR tests.
*Due to ISTEP+ testing in the computer lab, students will not be allowed to take AR tests from April 27-May 6. I still encourage students to read AR books. We will continue this Thursday, May 7. Thank you for your patience.
*The track and field day committee is still looking for volunteers to help in the afternoon next Friday. Please contact Angie Stuckwisch or the office if you are interested.
*We will be celebrating Kelian, Jade, Denise, and Nathan’s baptismal birthday on Friday at 1:15.
*Chapel is on Thursday this week, National Day of Prayer.
