First Grade News: February 11-15, 2008
Religion- 10 Men with Leprosy ; Two Men Pray- Luke 18:9-14        
Memory-  Hymn of the Month- Go to Dark Gethsemane (End of Verse 1; Verse 2)
            Tuesday: Turn not from His grief’s away; learn from Jesus Christ to pray.
            Wednesday: Follow to the judgment hall; view the Lord of life arraigned
            Thursday: oh, the wormwood and the gall! Oh, the pangs His soul sustained!
Math- Students will reviewing adding 9 facts, identifying ½, 1/3, and 1/6 of part; identifying <,>,=; and dividing a set. Students will have a fact test and a written test on Thursday.      
            Tuesday: Lesson 108B; Facts 108B
            Wednesday: Lesson 109B; Facts 109B
            Thursday: Problem Solving Sheet
Reading- We will be continuing our unit entitled “North, South, East, West” If you have any brochures, maps, ect. you may send them with your child and we will put them on our theme board and then return them at the end of the unit. This week students will be learning the /oo/ sound like in foot.  There will be an assessment on Friday. The high frequency words are: very, good, now, here, and go
            Tuesday: Read Decodable #86
            Thursday: Read Decodable #87
*First Grade is doing an excellent job on AR tests. Please continue to read AR books. :)         
Writing: writing a middle, beginning, and an end of a story  
Spelling: No Spelling Test this week.
Language/English- Commas   
Handwriting- Spacing of Letters and Words
Social Studies- People and Resources   
Science- Rocks and Soil; How Land Changes; Science Experiments

*Students have an opportunity to go to our school library on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
 
* We will continue working on our Science Fair Project this week. The students will be put in three groups. I will have 1 project for the class. The groups will put the information from the project together. This week we will be making our hypothesis. As the science fair gets closer, we may need extra help in our class. If you would be interested in helping, please let me know. Thank you!
 
*Our class will be going with 2nd grade to the Derby Dinner Playhouse on Wednesday Feb. 27.  If you would like to go as a chaperone please let me know. We can only take 5 parents from our class.
 
*Report Cards will go home on Friday.
 
*Friday is our baptismal birthday party for: Cassidy, Ryland, Megan, and Hunter T.
