First Grade News: Dec. 8-12
Religion- Jesus is Born Luke 2
Memory- Christmas Program Parts- These will be listed on each student’s program. They will have the date that the student needs to study that part. The parts for this week are yellow. The date listed is the night the students should study the memory for the next day. We will be practicing the program twice a week starting this week please leave your child’s program in his or her folder.
Math- Students will be reviewing addition of 2 digit numbers, graphing, and identifying congruent shapes. Students will have a written test on Tuesday.
Monday: Lesson 81B; Facts 81B
Wednesday: Lesson 82B; Facts 82B
Thursday: Lesson 83B; Fact Homework 83
Reading-We are continuing the unit on “Weather”. Students will be learning the long e sound spelled _y and _ie_ and /s/ spelled cy. Students will be working on the comprehension strategies: clarifying and visualizing. The high frequency words for this week are: every, could, boy, come, going, here. These words will be on the test on Friday.

Vocabulary Words: weather, sparkle, sleet, thermometer
English: Capitalization- Months and Days; Comma between date and year
Spelling: Students will take a pretest on Monday and then the actual test will be on Friday.

Handwriting- Ee
Social Studies- Neighborhood; Land and Water
Science- Life Cycles

First Grade News
*Jade Hardecopf will be the student on the all about me board next week. Please send pictures in by Friday.
* Please have your child bring a $5-7 gift for that person during the week of Dec. 15. The party will be on Dec. 19.
*All public library books that have been checked out at school should be returned by Dec. 19.
*Students have taken the star reader test twice this year. At the top of the newsletter is the grade level your child received the 1st time and then the second time. I am looking at an improvement between the two. The number also helps students to choose books at the library.
*Our Christmas party is on Friday Dec. 19 at 1:30. Here is a list of those signed up to bring items or help.
