First Grade News: Oct. 20-24, 2008
Religion- Reformation- The story of Martin Luther
Memory- Hymn of the Month (verse 2)
Monday: Elect from every nation, Yet one over all the earth
Tuesday: Her charter of salvation: One Lord, one faith, one birth
Wednesday: One holy name she blesses, partakes one holy food
Thursday: And to one hope she presses, with every grace endued.
Math- Students will be identifying odd and even numbers, showing time to the hour, and adding 2 to an odd and even number. Students will take a fact test and a written test on Friday.

Reading-We are continuing a unit on “Responsibility.” Students will be learning the /w/ spelled wh; /er/ spelled er, ir, ur; and the schwa sound this week. Students will take a test on Wednesday over the sounds and concepts learned the past 2 weeks. The high frequency words for the week are: went, will, when, girl, her, an, they (these words will be on the high frequency test this week)

First Grade News
* Adam Pottschmidt will be the student on the all about me board this week. Please send in any pictures your child would like to share with the class. The pictures will be returned.
*Thank you for all of your help in getting ready for the trip on Friday. Thank you to Melanie Peters for bringing the games. Also thank you to Kandy Wischmeier, Sheila Striegel, Dusty Brewster, and Julie Warren for helping at the park. It was a great day!
*We will not have school next Monday and Tuesday. Classes will resume on Wednesday.
*We are recognizing Red Ribbon week on Thursday and Friday. Thursday is boot out drugs and Friday is red day.
*Next Friday, October 31 is our Reformation party. We will have a costume parade in the morning. Students will need to come to school in their costume and will change after the parade if they want to. The costume theme is “What I Want to Be!” Here is a list of those who have signed up for the party: Snacks- Becky Darlage; Drinks- Rhonda Otting; Plates- Melanie Pottschmidt; Napkins- Teresa Brock. If you would like to come to the party please let me know.
