First Grade News: February 25-29, 2008
Religion- The Lord’s Prayer- Luke 11: 1-10
Memory-  Song: I am Jesus Little Lamb
            Monday: I am Jesus little lamb, ever glad at heart I am   
            Wednesday: For my shepherd gently guides me, knows my need and well
                                  provides me
            Thursday:  Loves me every day the same, even calls me by my name.
Math- Students will be learning new addition facts, identifying cones and spheres, and identifying a 1 dollar bill this week.
            Monday: Lesson 111B; Facts 111   
            Tuesday: Lesson 112B; Facts 112B
            Thursday: Lesson 113B; Facts 113B
Reading- 1st grade is beginning a new unit called “I Think I Can” On our concept board this unit students are welcomed to bring in pictures of them participating in an activity or a picture of something they have learned to do.
Students will be learning the /ow/ sound spelled ow and ou_ and the /n/ sound spelled kn.          
            Monday: Read Book #88
            Tuesday: Read Book #89
            Thursday: Read Student Reader P. 24-35
*First Grade is doing an excellent job on AR tests. Please continue to read AR books. :)         
Writing: writing a middle, beginning, and an end of a story  
Spelling: crown, tower, allow, flower, chowder, outside, pouch, round, mouse, playground
*Spelling Test on Friday  
Language/English- Quotations
Handwriting- Spacing of Letters and Words
Social Studies- Saving Our Resources

* We will continue working on our Science Fair Project this week. The students will be put in three groups. I will have 1 project for the class. The groups will put the information from the project together. This week we will be making our hypothesis.
 
*Students may check out public library books on Thursday.
 
*Wednesday is our Field Trip to the Derby Dinner Playhouse. All permission slips should be turned in.
 
*Monday was our baptismal birthday party for: Cassidy, Ryland, Megan, and Hunter T.
Happy Baptismal Birthday!
 
*On Monday Jaeger Blair, in kindergarten, and his sister were baptized during chapel. 1st grade had an opportunity to celebrate with Jaeger, his family, and the kindergarten class after the service. We wish God’s blessings to Jaeger and his sister.
 
*Thank you for filling out the AR sheets for students. If you have the book at home please either send it in or write on the sheet the title and the author. We are finding that there are several books with the same title.
 
*Baby bottles for the Pregnancy Care Center are due back to school by next Friday.
 
*Our school is hosting a county spelling bee on Thursday. Our school will have 2 student representatives. We will go to the gym at 1:30 to watch the spelling bee.
 
*Congratulations to 1st grade for receiving 15 tally marks. There is next goal to reach is 20. Keep up the good work!!
 
*Remember to sign the report card envelopes and return to school.
