First Grade News
Week of September 5-9
Religion: Students will be reading about Joseph and Baby Moses.
Memory: “When the Flag Goes By” This is the song they will be singing at the Trinity Fish Fry. They have practiced it in music.
Due Wednesday: When the flag goes by, hold it high!
Wave it for our country!

Reading: As a class, we will read Suki’s Kimono and Wolf! We will focus on the following sounds: d, n, h, and short i. High frequency words used in the decodables this week are did, it, in, had, him, and said. There will be a test on Tuesday over last week’s skills.
Tuesday: Decodable 9
Wednesday: Decodable 10
Thursday: Decodable 11
Friday: Decodable 12 (This will only be sent home with students who need extra practice.)
Math: We will begin Topic 3 Addition. Students will work on different ways to make 6, 7, 8, and 9.
Tuesday: Test in class over Topic 2
Wednesday: Lesson 3-1
Thursday: Lesson 3-2
*Special Announcements*
*Our class will be singing and performing a short skit at the Trinity Fish Fry in Vallonia. Students need to arrive at the church at 5:15 p.m. on Sunday, September 11th. The LCS choir and third grade class will also be performing. Students may leave after our class is finished.
*School pictures will be taken on Thursday, September 15th. Packets will be sent home this week.
