Math- Students will be counting dimes and pennies; dividing a square in half; and subtracting two this week. There will not be a math test this week.

Reading-We are starting a new unit this week called “Our Neighborhood at Work”. Students will be working with the /y/ and /v/ sounds. They will be learning the /l/ sound spelled _le and the long a sound spelled a and a_e. Please work on these sounds at home if you notice any problems let me know.

Social Studies- Presidents
*On Tuesday we will begin our discussion on our U.S. Presidents. Students will be working on speeches to give to the class. They will tell the class what they would do if they were President one day. They will begin writing their speech on Tuesday anyone who does not finish will bring it home to finish for Thursday. They will just tell 2 things they would do. Students will be graded on completion and presentation.
Science- Plants and Animals
*On Wednesday students will be reviewing the chapter on plants and animals.
Wednesday night homework will be an activity booklet to complete and return on Thursday.

* Trevor Peters will be on the All About Me Board next week. Please send in pictures by Friday.
*Friday is an early dismissal day. Students will be dismissed at 12:45.
*Grandparent’s Day this Friday, November 9. We will meet our grandparents at chapel and then come to our classroom for activities. After the morning activities, students will have lunch with their grandparents.
*Thank you to everyone who contributed to our Reformation party.
*Michelle Owens from the public library will be reading stories to our class on Wednesday.
*We are going to our school library on Wednesday this week instead of Friday.
*Please note there is an assignment for Social Studies and Science this week.
*We are beginning a unit this week on different types of jobs. During the week of Nov. 26 students will be sharing with the class what their mom or dad does at work. Students may either tell about the job or you may choose to come in to talk to the class. If you would like to speak to the class about your job that would be great! Please let me know if you would like to come and when. Anytime that week will be fine, I just need to know by Friday, November 16. Thank you!
*This week is spirit week for the 8th grade girl’s basketball tourney, Thursday is Hat and Sunglasses Day and Friday is Red, White, and Blue Day.
*Snappy Pizza forms are due the last day of the month. If your child has finished October’ s form I will still except them this week. If a student has reached his or her goal then their November goal will increase if not the goal will stay the same. Each student can get an award at the end of the year if they reach their goal every month.
