First Grade News: October 31- November 2, 2007
Religion- Story of Solomon and Jehoshophat
Memory- LSB Hymn 656: A Mighty Fortress is Our God (written by Martin Luther)
Monday: A mighty fortress is our God, a trusty shield and weapon
Tuesday: he helps us free from every need that hath us now o’ertaken
Wednesday: the old evil foe now means deadly woe
Thursday: deep guile and great might, are his dread arms in fight; on earth is not his equal.
Math- Students will be learning to add 2 to a number; measure using nonstandard units, writing number words, and identifying pairs. The fact test will be on Thursday and the written test on Friday.
Monday: Lesson 61B; Facts 61B
Tuesday: Lesson 62B; Fact 62B
Wednesday: Lesson 63B; Fact Homework 63
Thursday: Lesson 64B; Facts 64B
Reading-Students will be reviewing sounds this week. Students are taking a benchmark test this week to see the progress they have made. This will just be used as a tool for me to see what we need to work on not for a grade.
Monday: Read King Frank
Tuesday: Read the Turtle and the Bird
Wednesday: Read Such Good Bugs
Thursday: Read The Storm
Spelling: The test will be on Friday.

* Ryland Nierman will be on the All About Me Board next week. Please send in pictures by Friday.
* Wed. Oct. 31 is our Reformation Party. In the morning our class will do a costume parade through the school. I ask that each student dress like what they want to be when they grow-up. Students will come to school in their costumes but will change after the parade. Please send a change of clothes and a sack for the costume. At 2:15 we will have our party. Below is a list of who is bringing items for the party: Snacks: Sherri Cardinal; Drinks: Sharon Pottschmidt; Plates: Angie Reedy; Napkins: Julie Rodriquez; Games/Activities: Amy Nierman; Help at Party: Rachel White and Stacey Shoemaker
*Starting this Thursday, Nov.1, Michelle Owens from the public library will be coming to our school. Students who have their public library card will be allowed to get books from her. She will be here every other Thursday.
*Grandparent’s Day is Friday, November 9. If you have not returned the forms please send them in soon.
