For Wednesday, 8/18/10 Say-“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” (Genesis 1:1)

· Language Arts We will work on recognizing the number of syllables in given words, rhyming, review the Wall Sound Cards as well as the short vowel sounds. The hard cover reader will NOT be sent home this week. Decodables will be sent home this week. They are: Sand, Tan Hats, and a Mat, Mitts and Hits, and A Contest . We will also read a story called Little Green Riding Hood. It is in a book called Getting Started Reader. Please make sure you listen to your child read the stories as the books are sent home. Thank you! There will NOT be a story quiz this week.
We will also work on alphabetical order and writing telling and asking sentences this week.
WORD WALL WORDS: said, was, you, hand and they. Please note: There will be a spelling and language test on Friday.
Math We’ll work on understanding what happens when we add and subtract. We’ll also review math facts.
· Below is a form regarding the chapel offering designation for this year. Please let me know your feelings regarding this. Thank you!!
· Class Shirts Class shirts will be available again this year. Please indicate below your choice regarding the shirts. The cost will depend on the number of shirts ordered. We like to wear the shirts on special days as well as field trips.

· For Friday, August 20th, please send in your child’s favorite fruit. Please cut it in small pieces—unless it is bite size as is--send about one cup in a ZIP-LOC bag. Thank you!!
