First Grade News: September 24-28, 2007
Religion- Joshua the New Leader; Entering the Promise Land
Memory- The Ten Commandments
Monday: 5th Commandment- Thou shalt not kill.
Tuesday: 6th Commandment- Thou shalt not commit adultery.
Wednesday: 7th Commandment- Thou shalt not steal.
Thursday: 8th Commandment- Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy
neighbor.
Math- Students will be learning adding 1 facts, identifying and using a bar graph, and problem solving. Students will take a math test on Friday and a fact test over facts on Thursday.
Monday: Lesson 34B; Facts 34B
Tuesday: Lesson 36B; Class Facts 36B
Wednesday: Lesson 37B; Class Facts 37B
Thursday: Fact Homework 40
Reading-We will begin a unit on “Where Animals Live”. Students will also be writing descriptive writings of a place this week. We are working on Brainstorming, Revising, and Publishing. We will be working on the g, j, short u, and z sounds. We read the decodables at school and then students read them at home. If you see that your child is having difficulty at home with the books please let me know. Students will take a skills test over concepts learned this week on Friday. The high frequency words they need to know are: big, got, to, ask, of

Spelling: Students will take a pretest on Monday which will not count for a grade. The test will be on Fridays.

*Parent/Teacher Conference Forms are due Friday. Just a reminder the grade reviews will be given at conferences. This will give 3 weeks between grade reviews instead of the normal 4 weeks.
*Great Job to First grade for following directions last week during ISTEP. Even though we did not take the tests, we had to change our bathroom and hallway procedures
