Class Work
*Reading– Students will be beginning a new unit in reading, Teamwork. Students will be learning the w and k sounds this week along with making new words with those letters. Students will be reading Kim and Sam on Friday.
* Word Wall Words (star words) this week- look; with
*Religion– Jesus Blesses the Children- Mark 10:13
*Memory– Bible Verse: “Let the little children come to me.” Mark 10:14
*Math- Students will be learning to identify the ABBC pattern, comparing numbers to 10, identifying left and right, and using tangrams. Please work on these at home also.
*Science- Charting and Timing like a scientist
*Social Studies- Workers- Students will get handwriting paper on Monday. They will need to interview Mom, Dad, or both about their job. They can draw a picture of that person and then write a sentence about what he or she does (with help). For example, My mom is a _______________.

News
Thank you to everyone who donated items/money for our class auction baskets. Thank you to Angie Hallow and Angie Stuckwisch for organizing the class cookbook. We have great items, I think this will be very successful for our school auction. Thank you for your continued thoughtfulness and support. If you have not sent in a recipe or would like to send in more please do so soon.
We still need drivers to take students to the chapel service at Zion on March 8. Please let me know as soon as possible if you are able to drive.
If you use small (8 oz.) margarine at home and do not need the container, we will use them here at school. Thank you!
The bench in memory of Grace should be finished this week. Hopefully by the end of the month you will see it placed by the tree.
Beginning this week, students will be tested on different concepts for the report card. Students will be tested on letter recognition and sounds along with word wall words, reading 3 letter words, parts of a story, number and coin recognition, tying shoes, ect.
Our Valentine’s Day party is on Friday, February 12 beginning at 1:50. Those signed up to bring items include: Snacks- Dama Napier; Drinks- Angie Stuckwisch; Plates and Napkins- Teresa Brock; Party Favors- Allison Brown; Help at Party- Brandi Brelage. If it does not work for you to bring the above item please let me know. Thank you!
Students will have bags to put Valentines in on Friday morning. If you would like to send Valentines in for each student we have 16 (10 girls and 6 boys). Students will get to open them during the party or sometime during the day.
Amanda Barger, a senior at IU Southeast, is going to be in our classroom all day each Friday in February. She has to observe in a Kindergarten class for 30 hours and she has chose our class.
Our school will be having spirit days this week to get the girls ready for the basketball Lutheran tourney. Those spirit days are listed above.
